he was manager from 1967 until 1984. He was a veteran-an of the U.S. Army.
serving during World War II. He was an honorary member of the Griffin Rotary
Club and was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Griffin.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Boyd Esary of Griffin:
son and daughter-In-law. Sidney Ray and Sara Lee Esary of Grif-fin;
daughter and son-In-law, Kate Esary and Dean W. Russell of Atlanta: four
grandchildren. David Whitileld Esary, Stewart Ray Esary, and Michael Lynn
Esary, all of Griffin, and Sarah Frances Russell of Atlanta.
Funeral services for Mr. Barry Ray Esary will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Joe Conyers will officiate.
Interment will be In Oak Hill Cemetery.
FrIends may visit the family from 7 until 9 this evening at the funeral
home.

James Collins deceased died leaving the following children viz: Joshua
Collins James Dorcas Susan Ketura E Claiborne and Martha Collins. That
Joshua Collins has since died leaving a widow Elizabeth Collins & the
following children to wit Sarah See ( or Lee?) wife and relict of Samual
See deceased over the age of 21, James Collins Jr Jack Collins Daniel Collins

I Robert Simmons, Sr. Of the County and State aforesaid of sound and disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will & testament in manner and form following to wit:
Item 1st I wish all my just debts paid as soon after my death as it can be conveniently done.
Item 2nd Should my wife Ann T. outlive me it is my wish and desire that she keep all of my estate together during her life, or so much thereof as she may desire.
Item 3rd In the event of my wife’s having departed this life before me, then at my death, I desire after payment of my debts, all of my estate real, personal and mixed to be equally divided among my children, the portion which falls to my daughters or granddaughters I hereby give and grant to them and their heirs of their bodies, and not subject to the debts of their husbands.
Item 3rd Should my wife survive me and choose to give off some of the property and estate which I leave, under and all circumstances when my estate is finally divided I wish it equally divided among my children or grandchildren agreeably to the law of disent but if either of my children dies after my death and leave no children or child I hereby declare it to be my will that none of my estate shall go to the estate of such deceased child or children.
Item 4th If either of my daughters or granddaughters who receive a portion of my estate should die, leaving no heir of their body begotten, then such portion of my estate as they have received with its increase shall become the rightful property of the rest of my children or grandchildren and is not the subject to the debts of the husbands of my daughters or granddaughters but shall remain in their household for their use and the use of the heirs of their bodies as specified in Item no. three in this will.
Item 5th I hereby appoint my son BENJAMIN ASBERRY
SIMMONS my executor to this my last will and testament, and hereby vest
him with power to sell any or all of my lands for the purpose of making
a division thereof without having to proceeding in court to authorize the
same. In testimony of all which I hereto set my hand and seal this
sixth day of March A. D. 1845 with an interliniation of six words in Item

Mr. Simmons chart shows her parents to be WM. HARPER and JANE BONNER, both
of VA., and WM. HARPER’s parents to be JOHN BONNER & SARAH -----.

Sumter District: IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.
I, Henry Hudnall of the District and State aforesaid,
do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, revoking all former
willls by me made.
1st. I give and bequeath unto my wife Jane
E. Hudnall during her natural lifetime or widowhood, one negro man name
Sam. One negro man named Amos. One negro woman named Hannah;
all my stock of cattle which I shall not hereinafter dispose of otherwise,
all my stock of hogs which I shall not otherwise dispose of. Ten
head of sheep; one wagon, Two mules called Little and Big Jack; all my
household and kitchen furniture except what I shall hereafer otherwise
dispose of; one clock. But immediately after the death or marriage
of my said wife Jane E. HUdnall then I give and all the above named property
to my daughter Martha F. Hudnall, should the said Martha be alive at that
time but should the said Martha be dead at that time of the death or marriage
of my said wife then the above named be equally divided between my four
sons or the survivor of them.
2nd. I give devise and bequeath unto my son
Ilia Numm Hudnall. Two hundred and thiry-eight acres of land on Doctors
swamp whereon he now lives - purchased by me from John I. Frierson, als
one negro boy named Peter.
3rd. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Joel
Davis Hudnall the balance of the tract of land on Doctors Swamp quantity
not known, also one negro boy named Billy, one negro boy named Torrie.
But should the said Joel D. Hudnall die leaving no lawful issue the said
land and negroes to be equally divided between my three sons or survivors
of them.
4th. I give devise and bequeath unto my son John
Hamlin Hudnall, the upper part of the tract of land called the Thigpen
Tract lying on Horse Branch, the line to commence at Pocataligo Swamp Run
the same distance from the lower line that the short ditch in the field
called Amos Rice Pond ditch is from line straight to the run of June Burn
Branch on the back line. Also one negro boy named Lewis, one negro
girl named Edney. But should th John Hamlin Hudnall die leaving no
lawful issue the above named land negres to be equally divided between
his brothers which may be alive at the time of his death.
5th. I give devise and beqeath unto my son Henery
Bennett Hudnall the lower part of the tract of land called the Thigpen
Tract. Also one negro woman named Mitty, one negro boy Isham, one
negro girl Binky. Two cows and calves. Two sows and pigs, one
walnut desk, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture; one gray mare called
Fancy. But should it so happen that the said mare should not be on
the place at the time of his arriving at twenty one years of age then I
wish my executor to purchase for him out of my estate a horse worth seventy-five
dollars, one hundred and fifty bushels corn fifteen hundred pounds fodder
out of the crop now growing also ten head sheep. But should the said
Henery Bennet Hudnall die leaving no lawful issue then the above named
property to be equally divided between his brothers which may be alive
at the time of his death.
6th. I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter
Parthena Stukes one tract of land in Santee Swamp containing two hundred
and forty-four acres.
7th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah
D. Davis one negro child named Kitt.
8th. It is my will after paying all my just debts
and plantation expenses for the present year, that the proceeds of my cotton
crop now growing be divided, this- Ilia N. Hudnall to have one half thereof,
the balance to be equally divided between my wife Jane E. my sons Joel
D. and John H. The balance of my provisions crop not disposed of
I leave for the support of my wife and daughter Martha.

At the April term of court for Cheraws District, 1773, Robert Dowling filed charges against Joseph Gowley, Esq., one of the Justices of the Peace, and upon said charges the grand jury made presentment No. XII: "We present Joseph Gowley, Esq., one of the justices for the District as a profane swearer, a common drunkard and disturber of the peace on information of Robert Dowling."
Robert Dowling was a Private in Captain William Vance's Company 12,
the Virginia Regiment, commanded by Col. James Wood. Robert Dowling was,
during the latter part of the war, in the 6th Regiment, North Carolina
Continental Infantry under Capt. White. In November 1784, he received his
voucher for pay No. 1563, amount 186-12-8. Robert Dowling sent his three

I Hugh Boyd of Gilders Creek, Newberry County
South Carolina being through the abundant mercy and goodness of God through
weak in body and yet sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute
this my last Will and Testament and desire it to be received by all as
such. First I bequeath my soul to God my maker humbly beseeching his most
gracious acceptance of it through all sufficient merits and Messiation
of Jesus Christ my redeemer. Also I give my body to the earth from
whence it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from thence at
the last day- And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased
God to bless me in this life. I give and demise and dispose of the
same in the following manner and form.
First I will and ordain and appoint that my
eldest son Matthew shall have one mostly or half of that portion or parcel
of land lying on Indian Creek on which widow McFarlon lives particularly
that half which she lives on. And son John to have and hold
the other half of said plantation. Also I give and bequeath to my
son Hugh the whole of my plantation purchased from James Finlay’s widow
with fifty acres of my plantation I live on joining on or nearing with
the plantation already mentioned. And the remaining part of the said
plantation I live on containing a hundred acres I give and bequeath to
my son Robert. Also I give and bequeath to my wife Jennet her choice
of my dwelling houses to live in during life with all the household furniture
I possess and further I ordain and appoint that Hugh K. and Robert after
they come to age and possess their plantations shall each of them give
year and yearly to their mother twenty-five bushels of corn during her
life. And further I ordain that the whole of what remains of my moveable
effects, goods, and chattels beside what’s already specified and after
paying all my legal debts shall be divided equally between my wife Jennet
an my two daughters Jane and Rosanna. And lastly I make ordain and
appoint my brother John Boyd and my wife and daughters executors of this
my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof the said Hugh Boyd have

Jennet Muffitt was a widow when she married Hugh Boyd, her maiden name
is unknown. She had at least one son William Muffitt, by her first husband,
who was names in Hugh Boyd's will.
